Math in the Classroom
It is my belief that math is best learned through collaboration and constructive reasoning. Lessons typically consist of a teacher-led mini lesson followed by various forms of practice including group work, partner work, and independent practice. Children are encouraged to make sense of problems, persevere when solving, explain their reasoning, and analyze the work of others. Through authentic discourse, children are able to go deeper into a topic and apply thinking across multiple styles of problems.
